Cells at Work! live-action movie

A new visual of the live-action Cells at Work movie has been dropped, with two new characters announced in the latest trailer.

Comic Natalie reports that Mana Ashida (young Mako from Pacific Rim) will play Niko Urushizaki, a responsible high school student that represents a healthy body, while Sadao Abe (live action Parasyte’s Migi) will gain the role of Niko’s bumbling out-of-shape father Shigeru. The movie takes place in the bodies of this father and daughter couple.

Ashida and Abe will join main cast Mei Nagano (playing the Red Blood Cell) and Takeru Sato (playing the White Blood Cell). Here’s a look at the new trailer:

Cells at Work!! is an educational series about anthropomorphized cells and describes their functions and antics inside the body. An animated adaptation was released in 2018, to favorable reviews.

It had spinoffs such as Cells at Work Black (a spinoff anime was released in 2021 along with the second season of the original anime) about an unhealthy body and Cells at Work Baby about cells in baby’s body.

The live-action Cells at Work movie will be released in December 13, 2024.
