Having succeeded with its Steam Greenlight campaign, cel-shaded first person hack-n-slash RPG Slasher’s Keep will be coming to Steam sometime later this year, according to a recent update to its page.
If you’re like me and have never heard of Damian Schloter’s game before, you can catch up to speed by looking through its official homepage. Though there isn’t exactly a shortage of first person roguelikes, the unique art style and “squishy” sound effects do an admirable job of setting Slasher’s Keep apart from its usually low-fi and pixel-blocked cousins.
Slasher’s Keep boasts six playable classes, wands that shoot like guns (You’ll either love that or vehemently hate it), a simple-to-use crafting system, and basic trap physics…something that reminded me a lot of Skyrim. Of course, it’s the hand-drawn models that stand out the most.
There’s no specific date on when Slasher’s Keep will be released, but it will be sometime in 2016. Until then, you can keep up to date via the developer’s Twitter or their Facebook.
