Defiant Development has returned to game development with their new studio Spitfire Interactive, and have announced their debut game, Capes.

The Hand of Fate developer wound down game production back in 2019, resulting in the cancellation of their in-development games.

While the Australian indie dev created by ex-Pandemic Studios members made several mobile games, they didn’t gain any real prominence until their cult hit Hand of Fate series. This fairly successful series blended elements of deckbuilding and third-person action combat in a roguelite adventure package.

Now, Defiant Development has created the Spitfire Interactive studio to once again continue game development. Made up of ex-Hand of Fate devs, Spitfire Interactive have announced their first game, a tactical superhero RPG called Capes.

Capes is set in a dystopian metropolis a decade after supervillains won the struggle of good versus evil. The villains have outlawed the use of superpowers to maintain their iron grip on the city, but now a ragtag band of heroes in training have risen to challenge their regime.

In Capes, players will gradually build a team of superheroes to take on their villainous overlords. Train and upgrade your heroes to unlock new superpowers, build combos that synergize with their comrades’ powers, and take on the forces of evil in turn-based tactical battles.
