While Monster Hunter has finally leaped into the glorious HD, modern age with Monster Hunter: World, many longtime fans of the series on portable gaming consoles has felt left in the dust. Some fans have even been clamoring for the game to get ported to Nintendo’s hybrid console, the Switch.
Now, Capcom has responded to fans asking for a Switch port of the game, in a new interview with ToyoKeizai. Capcom president quickly pointed out that while they ported Monster Hunter XX (originally a Nintendo 3DS game) to the Switch, taking into account various conditions – porting the game to Switch is “difficult.”
He went on to say that the Switch has many different functions that stationary consoles don’t have, as well as a different playerbase.
He didn’t rule out future Monster Hunter releases for the Switch after Monster Hunter XX (which hasn’t been released outside Japan), however, and said that the company is looking to continue supporting the console with their games – including Monster Hunter.
Monster Hunter World is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a PC release set for sometime this fall. In case you missed it, you can find our review for the game here (we highly recommend it!).
