In recent years, the Resident Evil franchise has seen a resurgence thanks in part from the numerous remakes of classic mainline titles that have launched such as 4, which came out earlier this year.
Most speculated that more would be in development and now it’s been confirmed by the Resident Evil 4 remake director Yasuhiro Anpo (via IGN), after a previous tease for more remakes.
When asked if the company would announce another remake in the future, Anpo simply answered with “Yes”.
He continued, “We’ve released three remakes so far and they have all been received very well. Since it allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more.”
Unsurprisingly he didn’t mention, nor hint at, what would be the potential next remake for the series. With a long lineage, there are a lot of options. Many fans believe the next release will either be a remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica or Resident Evil 5.
For now, there is no timeline for when the next remake will be announced and released. The remakes for 2 and 3 came out in 2019 and 2020 respectively. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 4 remake came out earlier this year for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Windows (through Steam). Check out our thorough review!
