Indie developer The Game Bakers has announced a new “Free Solo” mode for Cairn, their new survival climbing simulation game.
Here’s a blurb on the new mode, plus a reveal trailer:
True to its name, Free Solo mode puts players on the wall with no pitons and no rope. Any fall can be deadly, and if you die it’s a restart from the beginning. Every movement on the wall, every meter climbed is high tension during the hours-long push to the summit. With a backpack stripped down to the bare minimum, survival and inventory management become all the more challenging. The mode is meant for players who want to test themselves and experience the razor edge tension that real free solo climbers live on the wall.
Cairn is set to launch across Windows PC (via Steam) and PlayStation 5 later this year, on November 5th. A playable demo is available now on both PC and PS5.
