Cairn delayed to 2026

Cairn

Indie developer The Game Bakers has announced a delay for Cairn, their new survival climbing simulation game.

Cairn will forgo its previous November release for one next year, in Q1 of 2026. When the climbing game does launch, it’ll be on PC (via Steam) and PlayStation 5.

“The tough decision was made to ensure Cairn is at its best at launch, and delivers the unforgettable experience players are expecting from the demo,” the team said in a press release. “The game is currently content complete and the few extra months of development will be spent on optimization, debug, and polish. The Game Bakers’ goal has always been to create games players remember long after playing them, and for Cairn, despite the team’s best efforts, this requires extra time.”

Cairn creative director Emeric Thoa added, “We have been running a lot of playtests, and the feedback from players is that we have something truly special with Cairn. We also see all the improvements we can still do to make the experience unforgettable. After 5 years of work, it makes no sense to rush it, we want to be proud of the game we launch.”

The game’s previously released demo will get an update on October 13th where players can see ghosts of other players also climbing the mountain, for a limited time.
