While Criterion Games have sadly been relegated to a collaborative developer for whatever Electronic Arts throws at them, they used to be the folks behind the excellent and beloved Burnout series. While they said a Burnout HD Collection isn’t happening, it seems Burnout Paradise HD is coming.
The news comes via game scheduling wiki account @Renka_schedule, who lists Burnout Paradise HD Remaster for a March 16th release in Japan, for PlayStation 4.
Originally released back in 2008 for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, the open-world arcade racer became an instant hit, selling boatloads and even still having functional online servers. I’ve dumped hundreds of hours into the game myself.
Rumors for a Burnout Paradise remaster for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One first popped up on Brazilian blog GamePress, who pointed to listings in a local game distributor supplier database. Those listings pointed to March 1st.
While the Renka listing only mentions PlayStation 4, it will probably be released for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, worldwide.
We’ll keep you guys posted.
