Hardcore Japanese dungeon RPG Buriedbornes makes its way to Steam

Buriedbornes

Mobile games can be usually hit-or-miss, but one title that always pops up when it comes to good games for your phone is Buriedbornes.

Some of our readers think smartphone games don’t exist, so perhaps they’ll give it a chance now that Buriedbornes is available Windows PC (through Steam).

The brutal turn-based roguelike is now on PC, providing an unforgiving and complex experience, coming from the mind of a Japanese solo developer.

Here’s the Steam description for the game:

Buriedbornes

The oldest and most abhorrent Prophecy has become reality. This is endless and merciless warfare for Buriedbornes, army can revive forever.

Easy to play x Hard to survive

Buriedbornes is Hardcore. Dungeon RPG.
Choose job and challenge the dungeon.
Pick equipments and skills, defeat terrible enemies.
You can enjoy strategy and difficutly with synergy of equipments and skills.
And “Choosing” is most important in the Dungeon.
Are you ready for deadly battle and ending this unprecedented disaster?

Warfare for Buriedbornes

Heroes can not revive forever.
Dead heroes and their belongings will be lost.
However, they will become “Roaming dead” for your next enemy.
Alternatively, you will earn any supply from them.
You can remain your message for their corpses. And you will receive message from others.
You can collect “Soulstones” to buy many special jobs.

The art and creature design are absolutely fantastic and give games like Darkest Dungeon a run for their money. Here are some of the creatures that players may find in Buriedbornes (click to enlarge):

The game does have a few issues that come from it being solo developed, like the UI being messy and some text still being in Japanese, those caveats are unfortunate but also understandable, as the game is barely monetized.

Mobile users don’t need to be worried about progress loss, since the game allows for save transfers from the Android and iOS versions.

The game currently doesn’t seem to be verified for the Steam Deck, but it can be a great portable title for the handheld when it gets verified.
