New adventure game Bub uses real paper art pieces to tell its story

Revealed during Day of the Devs, Bub is a short narrative adventure from indie duo Paperfrog that tells the story of an artist struggling with a debilitating illness while trying to preserve his memories through art.

You step into the shoes of Bub, a New York artist whose creative abilities are slowly slipping away. As his health declines, he pours what remains of his energy into creating worlds inspired by his life, allowing you to explore moments from his past through a deeply personal lens.

Rather than relying on traditional 3D graphics or pixel art, Bub is built from thousands of handcrafted physical materials, including paper cutouts, paintings, drawings, and collages. The result is a stop-motion-inspired world that feels tangible, textured, and unlike anything else shown during Summer Game Fest.

Bub is currently targeting a Q4 2027 release on PC via Steam. Here’s its reveal trailer:
