Brotherhood Of The Wolf is getting a 4K remaster

Brotherhood of the Wolf

Scream Factory and Shout Factory have announced a 4K remaster for Brotherhood of the Wolf, the cult classic 2001 film that inspired FromSoftware’s Bloodborne game.

The new 4K remaster is set with a May 23rd release date and will include an entirely new scan of the original negatives by StudioCanal with approval by director Christophe Gans himself. Preorders are already live over on Shout Factory.

Based on the real life series of killings that occurred in France during the 18th century, the legend of the beast of Gévaudan gets a loose retelling with Gans’ cult film. Starring Samuel Le Bihan and Mark Dacascos as the dual-hunters, the film saw positive reception and became one of the highest-grossing French films in the United States.

The costume designs, sets, production, and more all brought the film together to become a cult classic – years later the game obviously inspired FromSoftware’s dark fantasy RPG epic Bloodborne. Fans will notice the design of the hunters, the werewolves, and more are generally directly inspired from the film.
