Now that inXile Entertainment has released their latest massive RPG, The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep, their boss has teased a potential return to his roots should the game sell well enough.

Brian Fargo, the founder of Interplay Entertainment and now the boss of inXile Entertainment (he also founded that company) has pledged to try buying back his old company, nearly two decades after it went bankrupt.

“I will attempt to buy Interplay back if we manage to sell over 2 million units in the first 18 months.” Fargo teased over on Twitter.

Fargo was talking potential sales for The Bard’s Tale IV, and teased the intellectual properties that would come with the purchase of Interplay, including Dragon Wars, Earthworm Jim, and more.

Interplay ran into financial issues in the late 1990’s despite a string of critical and commercial PC hits like the original two Fallout games, Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and even console games like ClayFighter, MDK, and of course the aforementioned Earthworm Jim. Fargo left in 2002 to found inXile.
