It has been confirmed that BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense (Itai no wa Iya nano de Bogyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu) will have a second season.

During the season finale of BOFURI, a teaser image was displayed at the end that confirmed a second season was in the works. The teaser showed the anime’s title card along with two shields creating a roman numeral two to indicate the show’s second season.

Originally a light novel series by Yuumikan that began in 2017, it later became a manga in 2018, illustrated by Jiro Oimoto. BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense follows Kaede Honjo, a new player to the VRMMO NewWorld Online.

However in NewWorld Online, virtual reality is able to provide a pain response when a character takes damage. Kaede, with her low tolerance for pain decides to put all of her skillpoints into vitality.

Since no one had ever done a pure vitality build before, Kaede (as her character Maple) stumbles onto skills and methods no other player had unlocked, and her unorthodox playstyle helps her to become one of the top rankers in NewWorld Online.

Kaede is later joined by her Risa Shiramine who complements Maple by becoming her opposite, a high evasion but low vitality swashbuckler named Sally.

The anime’s first season ran from January 8th to March 25th, with 12 episodes. It was directed by Shin Onuma, and Mirai Minato. It was animated by Silver Link (A Sister’s All You Need, Chaos;Child, WataMote, and more).

No official date has been announced for season 2 of BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense.

The first seasion of BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense is available to steam on Hulu and Funimation
