Blue Archive was set to celebrate its first year anniversary for Global servers with the update for it coming on November 1st. However Nexon announced the update is delayed to November 8th, due to a tragedy from last weekend in South Korea.
For those unaware, during Halloween celebrations in the country, there was an unfortunate event in Itaewon where too many people gathered around to celebrate the holiday. This led to a “crowd crush” due to the tight spaces, and ultimately 154 people tragically lost their lives.
Nexon, the publisher of Blue Archive, is located in South Korea, so this tragic event hits home for the company and their many employees. As such, they are delaying their celebration update and send their condolences to those who have lost friends and family during this time.
Despite only being in existence for 1 year globally, the game has been through multiple major events and controversies. Earlier there was an issue where one of the CG scenes was censored during the game’s story. There was also an attempt at creating a Vtuber to promote the game, which greatly upset South Korean fans.
Most recently there has been the announcement of an app split for a censored and uncensored version of the game, due to pressure from lawmakers. Despite this, the game has managed to otherwise chug along.
