This time on Blue Archive the banner doesn’t have any Limited/Unique students. Just two seemingly normal Special units to diversify your backline, right?
Wrong.
This week’s banner is insane for new players, these two units are more than what they seem and we’re going to explain why they’re worth pulling.
Neither of these students have convenient Student Info images so we’ll do our best to explain what they do. This will help you better understand their role on a team.

Nekozuka Hibiki
Hibiki is a straightforward Explosive damage Special unit. Her EX ability is a barrage of missiles in 5 overlapping “round-shaped” areas and only costs 4 bars of EX meter.
Passively, Hibiki fires a missile every 20 seconds and also buffs her allies’ crit damage by a large amount.
Most Special Explosive damage dealers tend to do less damage at the cost of applying some debuff; meanwhile Hibiki is pure damage. There aren’t a lot of situations where she’s necessary, but she’s great to have in PvP and fits on most team comps to wipe out your opponents Shun and other backline.
Amau Ako
Pull her. Pull her right now. If you’re lacking in students just get her. Don’t even question it; but if you need the reasons why we’ll tell you.
Ako is considered “best in slot” for one of your Special units in pretty much every Total Assault raid.
Her EX ability is a 3 cost buff that only lasts for 16 seconds. However it dramatically increases both Crit Rating and Crit Damage. This allows her to combo with most raid builds to do massive damage. For example if you buff Maki in a HOD or Binah raid before using Maki’s EX ability? She’ll do MASSIVE damage, multiple bars of HP worth of damage.
Ako’s ability to enable most every raid team cannot be understated.
Should I Pull?
Yes. Pull Ako.
Hibiki is optional unless you have a lot of Pyroxenes and want more options in PvP but Ako is mandatory.
The only time you wouldn’t pull Ako is if you literally have every other student unlocked since then you can just “rent” Ako from a clan mate.
But if you’re 99% of the player base, having your own Ako invested frees you up to rent niche units like Mutsuki (New Year ver.) for Perorodzilla, or Chihiro for HOD.
To sum it up: Pull Ako. Immediately.
Waifu Clause
As always, if you really like the student’s design then more power to you. These guides are more about the student’s place in the meta.
