Generally speaking, anniversaries should be a fun time for celebrations in the gaming space. While there have certainly been titles that have left longtime fans wanting more, Blue Archive’s 3rd anniversary for their global version of the game has left fans baffled.
When it comes to the added game content, many are generally happy about it. With the release of 3 new characters to follow the event -ive Alive and its focus on the After-School Sweet club forming a band, which brings back memories for older fans of the K-On! series.
However, the new update also appears to have messed up parts of the game’s localization. While Blue Archive’s localization issues have been public knowledge for some time, this new patch seems to have somehow caused lines that were perfectly fine to now have grammatical errors when there were none before.
This includes some of the new content as well, where obtainable event items are improperly translated such as cookies being called “rechargeable” and a lollypop item being mistakenly called “cookies”.
The issues aren’t limited to just the game’s content either. For some unknown reason, the Android store page has been adjusted. With the game title now including “Epic Anime rpg” in it, with RPG not being properly capitalized.
The term “epic” also seems to be forced into the game’s description now. With it appearing as an adjective multiple times where it hadn’t before. Due to this, the fans have humorously memed the term by putting it in front of any word when replying on the game’s official social media pages.
While it’s unknown why Nexon has made these changes, the most likely reason is they felt the annual milestone would be a good time to update some of the game’s marketing and sales material as they are a bit outdated with the game being around for three years now.
It seems these changes have not been well received by fans, and hopefully they do fix the issues that have popped up in the game itself soon.
Blue Archive is available now on mobile devices. You can check out our review here! (as far as mobile games go, we still recommend it!)
