Full Disclosure: I have financially backed Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on Kickstarter.
Koji Igarashi’s Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has broken $2 million dollars.
The crowdfunding campaign has raked in quite a bit of money in a short amount of time – with over $2 million dollars the Kickstarter still has 27 days to go. With the campaign reaching $2 million, a boss rush mode is going to be added.
There are currently two stretch goals within reach – at $2.25 million a Retro Level will be added to the game, as well as a classic mode at $2.5 million. You can find the Kickstarter for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night here.

May 16, 2015 at 12:30 pmNot exactly. 26,774 backers is a very small number of consumers.

May 16, 2015 at 12:41 pmPeople willing to contribute to the making of a game is not the same as those interested/willing to pay for the completed product.
The bigger consideration is that this game will likely show up on home consoles as a mainline, technical AAA, production, and a big publisher such as Konami never would have thought of making it except as either a handheld console or or PSN/XBL release.

May 16, 2015 at 1:37 pm$2 million in a week. People have given $2 million for a IP that is yet to be created. Something EA would be masturbating over all week if it was them.

May 16, 2015 at 2:24 pmThat’s not much compared to the amount of dosh they hope to get from mobile cash sinks.
Plus the effort/reward ratio is way better, simple basic games and a lot of money vs a big creative undertaking managing backers and viral marketing.

May 16, 2015 at 3:04 pmNow classic mode sounds really interesting. The classic style Castlevanias need a new home as well.

May 22, 2015 at 12:33 pmLooks sweet! Lets hope the SJWs don’t get a hold of it while it’s being developed.
