BloodRayne IP Acquired by Ziggurat Interactive, Updating PC Games and “Developing Plans” for Series’ Future

Ziggurat Interactive have announced they have acquired the rights to the BloodRayne series, are updating games on PC, and have plans for the series’ future.

As stated in the press release (via Games Press), the recently formed publisher Ziggurat Interactive have purchased multiple games licences from Majesco Entertainment. These include Advent Rising, Raze’s Hell, Flip’s Twisted World, and BloodRayne.

The announcement also reveals that Ziggurat Interactive are working with the original BloodRayne developer (Terminal Reality) to update the Windows PC versions of the games “to improve compatibility and provide various enhancements.” The publisher is also “developing plans to further explore and expand BloodRayne’s already rich universe.”

For those unfamiliar, the series debuted in 2002. The action adventure hack and slash game followed Rayne, a half-vampire who battled Nazis, supernatural monsters, and uncovering the secrets of her past.

The series’ final entry was BloodRayne: Betrayal in 2011; following after the infamously bad movies by Uwe Boll in 2005 and 2007. Wade Rosen, Ziggurat Interactive’s President, explained the respect he had for the series, and his hopes for its future.

BloodRayne is a beloved franchise with a huge fan base and we’re extremely appreciative of the opportunity to be stewards for this fantastic series. Players the world over fondly remember titles like BloodRayne and Advent Rising and having the opportunity to not only bring these games to a new audience but to expand their universes is something we take seriously.”
