Blizzard Now Giving Out the Original StarCraft Entirely Free

While Blizzard previously announced they’re fully remastering the original StarCraft, they’re also making the original, non-HD version of the game entirely free.

The official free version of the game comes with version 1.18, which is already up on the Battle.net forums. Until the full version of the update is available, you’ll need a Public Test Realm (PTR) account to play the original online.

Clocking in at roughly 1.5GB, Blizzard also spent time in fixing a lot of bugs and adding new features to the classic game, including OpenGL support, and improved compatibility with modern operating systems like Windows 8, 8.1, and 10.

StarCraft Remastered is set for a release sometime this summer, for PC and Mac.
