Blaster Master Zero Launches for Switch and 3DS on March 9 in North America and Europe

Inti Creates have announced the western release date for Blaster Master Zero.

The newly reimagined game will launch for both the Nintendo Switch and the 3DS on March 9th in North America and Europe, for $9.99 / €9.99 / £8.99, respectively. The game is launching in Japan on March 3rd, alongside the Nintendo Switch.

Blaster Master Zero is based on the original Blaster Master franchise from 1988. The game will have 8-bit visuals to match the series’ throwback visuals. There will be new updates like “new areas and bosses, and new gameplay elements such as extra sub-weapons, improved gameplay when battling outside of your SOPHIA 3rd tank, a more robust scenario, refined and expanded exploration mechanics, and more.”

You can view a new trailer below, for both the Nintendo Switch and 3DS versions of the game.

Dang, that looks great. You can tell how much love and attention they gave those visuals. Only complaint is that you move pretty slow outside of the tank. Wonder if there’s an item that fixes that.

Surprised to see this rise from the dead. So is this a remake or a prequel?

Remake. IntiCreates is taking the original game and expanding it to the Nth degree. Story-wise it takes aspects from the original Blaster Master, the Japanese version Meta Fight, and even a little bit of the “Worlds of Power” novelization of Blaster Master to create a new continuity.

I’m loving that. We should see more expanded remakes of that kind. It kind of reminds me of what ultimate marvel was supposed to be.

Blaster Master is seriously awesome. Right up there with RCR in terms of great NES games that people need to play.

Shoutout to the Blaster Master game/remake on Wii. I want this one, a lot, actually.

Grabbing all the versions of a character or franchise and distilling the best parts from each one into a single comic.
