NCSoft has announced that Blade & Soul, their Chinese martial-arts MMORPG, is finally coming west this winter. Featured above, you can view a brand new trailer for the game.
The game was originally released in Asia back in 2012. The game follows a “Wuxia” storyline in which the player has to fight to avenge the death of their master. For those who aren’t familiar with Chinese culture, “wuxia” translates directly into “martial hero,” and covers a pretty dynamic range of Chinese fiction and media covering martial artists.
Blade & Soul is getting the full western treatment by getting translations into English, German, and French, and voice overs in each language as well. No word on if dual-audio is going to be offered in the game. The current state of the game is described as “pre pre pre alpha,” and despite it being free-to-play, will have no main content being gated or needing payment to access.
You can register to get information for the game over on its official website, and beta invites will be going out sometime this fall. Further details regarding micro-transactions (as the game will be free to play) will be confirmed this summer, with a full launch set for this winter.
