The Kickstarter campaign for Blackmore, the steampunk adventure game by the designers from Hideo Kojima’s Snatcher, has failed to reach its funding goal. Despite this setback, developer iQiOi is going back to the drawing board and preparing for a return in two months.
The goal of $200,000 dollars came up short at around $62,000 dollars, and the devs admitted that they felt that the launch of their Kickstarter was a bit premature, in an update on their Kickstarter page:
“Things are indeed not all that rosy on our first KS campaign ever, but we’re not worried so neither should you be. Yes, our timing was not so good and we launched a bit prematurely. But we WILL return bulked up and ready for combat sometime in the next 60 days!!”
The update continues:
“We know that we have something great with this game, this team, these characters, and we know that we have plenty of dedicated fans and even more potential supporters that still don’t know about us.”
Also, the game will be known as Blackmore’s Bane from now on, and an official website has been launched, which you can see here. While the mock ups for the game were 3D in nature, the reboot will be strictly 2D, according to rumors.
Hopefully when their Kickstarter relaunches in two months, they’ll have more actual game to show off, as it seems more and more pledges are getting more scrutinizing to campaigns that only have promises, and no actual game content ready.
