Publisher Goodsmile Company and developer G2 Studios have announced Black Rock Shooter FRAGMENT for smartphones.

Black Rock Shooter FRAGMENT is launching sometime in fall 2022 for Japan, on both iOS and Android devices.

A big media franchise now, Black Rock Shooter began in 2007 by artist Ryohei Fuke (who goes by the handle ‘Huke’), who posted an original character illustration of the same name to his blog and Pixiv.

Ryo of Supercell was inspired by the work so much he made a song also called “Black Rock Shooter” using vocaloid vocals from Hatsune Miku. Fuke later joined Supercell and provided new illustrations used in the music video. It was then adapted into a TV anime, several video games, manga volumes, merchandise, and more.

The most recent cross-media project for the Black Rock Shooter franchise is the new TV anime Black Rock Shooter DAWN FALL, which is set to be released sometime in spring 2022.
