Black Ops 6 Citadelle Des Morts Easter Egg Guide

In the latest Call of Duty Black Ops 6 update, Activision and Treyarch released their new timed event revolving around Netflix’s popular show Squid Games. While many players are focused on completing the Squid Games Battle Pass by playing Pentathalon or Red Light, Green Light in multiplayer, some are choosing to do it by completing Dead Light, Green Light. Although the Squid Games modes are the main focus of the latest update, the update did include a new Directed mode addition so new players can learn the steps for the Citadelle Des Morts Easter Egg. Below, we will be walking you through the steps that Treyarch has laid out for you in order to complete the newest Easter Egg either in Standard or Directed mode.

When playing in the standard mode, players can turn on the Rampage Inducer to make the rounds go quicker; in Directed Mode, the Rampage Inducer has been taken out to stop players from free farming camos, points, and experience. Upon loading into the match, players must work together in order to open up the doors that lead to the castle.

Once players have enough points to open up the gated doors, they can move from the town square by choosing to go up either the hillside by the stables (Deadshot Daiquiri) or through the Village Ascent (Speed Cola). Once you are within the castle’s walls (Courtyard) you will need to open the door. In order to reach the cannon, you will need to open either tower door and head to the cannon. After cranking the cannon’s wheel, the cannon will now be facing the barricaded door. Fire it and blow away the door.

With the inner castle now available to explore and unlock, you will need to open the doors leading to the basement in order to find the Dubilette Room and unlock Pack-A-Punch. In order to do this, head through the Dining Hall, make a right, and open the door leading to the dungeon (Quick Revive). Once in the dungeon, run to the opposite side to unlock the door leading to the Dublitte Room; alternatively, you could have gone the other way, but this path makes it easier to access Kraft starting the Easter Egg.

Once in the Dublitette Room, you will need to shoot three locks off of a crate; be careful, doing so will unleash a Doppelghast that can be a powerful and annoying enemy. Once the Doppelghast has been killed, a red crystal called the Blood Aetherium Crystal will drop. Take the Blood Aetherim Crystal over to the crate and insert it into the rift in order to Pack-A-Punch come through the rift.

Now that you have the ability to upgrade your weapon, you will need to head to the Dungeon to find Gabriel Krafft. Krafft’s cell can be found in the room behind Quick Revive. Upon interacting with the door, the windowed hatch will lower and you will start a dialog with Krafft. In this interaction, he will give you clues on how to undertake the Easter Egg and find the Sentinal Artifact. He states,

You…. I know who you are – and why you are here. To obtain the Sentinel Artifact, you will first need an amulet hidden in this castle. Listen closely… Aperi Oculos Tuos. Verum Videre. I gave you the means to find the amulet. Now hurry. The Syndicate cannot be allowed to obtain the Sentinel Artifact. It must never fall into…. his hands.

Aperi Oculos Tuos Verum Videre roughly translates to Open your eyes, See the truth. At this point, the player will be able to access a part of the map that was not available or unlockable before interacting with Kraft. Head back up to the Dining Hall and run towards the Dragon Mural on the adjacent wall; once you are close enough, the wall will disappear and you will have access to the Alchemical Lab.

Once in the Alchemical Lab, Krafft will contact you again to say, “Obscurus Altilium,” which is the name of the Amulet you seek. Your former employer, Edward Richtofen paid the Syndicate a small fortune to find it.

Unlocking and Upgrading the Bastard Swords

Rather than making this guide incredibly loan and tiresome to read, we are including a link to our coverage on how to unlock and upgrade the Bastard Swords. The guide goes over each step to unlock the elemental abilities according to the recently updated Directed mode.

Once you have completed upgrading the Bastard Swords you can then move on to the main Easter Egg.

Undercroft Symbol Puzzle

Once all four swords have been upgraded, you can start the main steps of the Citadelle Des Morts Easter Egg. At this point, you will need to decide if you want to complete the undercroft symbol puzzle or unlock the elemental incantations. Having the incantations unlocked early can make life easier, however, completing the undercroft symbol puzzle is a lot easier to do as long as you have two other players in your game. In guided mode, the game directs you to do the Undercroft Symbol Puzzle first.

In order to start the Undercroft Symbol Puzzle, you will either need Melee Machiatto or C4 to blast open and reveal the board. The board will show multiple symbols the player will need to shoot in order to complete the puzzle. The symbols and their order can be found in the Tavern where you completed the Raven Sword Upgrade.

Once you are in the tavern, you will need to locate six blue vases with Roman Numerals on them. Interacting with each of these vases will reveal a symbol. If you have a player in the undercroft, you can easily read out the symbols in order for your partner to shoot them. Once you have shot all six symbols correctly, a voice line will occur, and a red wisp will glide slightly to the left revealing a book hidden behind the walls.

Ritual Pages & Points of Power

This book will sadly be missing pages. Next, you will need to find the Torn Page Fragments located in the Sitting Rooms. The four-page Fragments can be found in various places within the Sitting Room and when you pick it up it will indicate a page number. Once you have collected all four, return to the undercroft to put the four torn pages into the book. Once the pages are inserted into the book, they will show four symbols and the order you will need to interact with the Points of Power traps.

Once you have killed eight zombies within the point of power trap it will turn off if it is the correct one and its symbol will disappear from the book. If it is not the correct one the trap will continue to go and turn off resulting in a cooldown. On Standard, you will have to find the correct traps while on Directed Mode, the game will show you where the four traps are but you will still need to figure out for yourself what order they need to be completed in.

Once you have completed the four Points of Power traps, a red wisp will fly to the wall in the Undercroft Stairway by the Sitting Room. After it collides with the Wall, four symbols will appear on the wall indicating the next step of the Easter Egg. Be aware, the four symbols shown on the wall can change order each playthrough so you will need to pay attention to what order the Dragon, Lion, Raven, and Stag are based on the Roman Numerals.

Incantations and Artifacts

If you or your teammates have not already, you will need to do various tasks to find the artifacts for each element and use those artifacts to unlock the elemental incantations. You will need to unlock these incantations to continue with the Citadelle Des Morte Easter Egg but they can also be helpful to get you out of tricky situations. Similar to the swords, here is our guide on how to find each artifact and unlock the different elemental incantations.

Artifact & Incantation Steps

Paying Respect to Fallen Brothern

With all four Incantations now available, you can finally move on to the next Easter Egg step. Head back to the Undercroft Stairway to see the order of each knight statue that you need to interact with, Pay your respects. In order to pay respect to the Statues, you will need to interact with the statues in the order indicated by the mural in the Undercroft Stairway. First, you will need to use each statue’s corresponding incantations. After casting the incantation, you will need to inspect the corresponding sword causing a visual interaction with the statue where it will salute and then glow. If it is correct, a beam of light will shoot out of it up towards the center of the room.

Once you have paid respect to all four statues, four beams of light will shoot up into the sky and the Mystic Orb will lower to the center of the room. Be warned, there can be a visual bug that can cause the Mystic Orb to not appear properly; if this occurs, just walk to the center of the beams and press the interact button. Once you have the Mystic Orb in possession, you will need to charge it. The closest location you can start at is in the Dining Hall where you are already located.

Charging the Mystic Orb

Across from Vulture Aid, there will be a cylinder-like frame that can hold the orb. The Light Mystic Orb challenge will require you to run around the Dining Hall and gather green orbs. Once enough green orbs have been collected, the orb will have a green wisp flying around it. Collect it and prepare to head to the Courtyard or the Undercroft.

If you have chosen to go to the Undercroft, the holder will be to the Left of the Dark Incantation. In order to charge the Mythic Orb, you will need to get Dark Elemental Kills. Players can complete this by using the Shadow Rift Weapon Augment, Dark Incantations, Balmung’s Special Ability, or the LT53 Kazimir. Once the orb has been charged with Dark Energy, a purple swirl will appear around the orb. Pick up the Mystic Orb and head to the Courtyard.

Once out in the Courtyard, you will find another holder to the right of the Arsenal Holder. For this portion, you will need to kill zombies with fire damage; in order to achieve this, use either a Moltov, Blast Furnace, or Caliburn’s special ability. Once you have secured enough fire kills, gather the orb and head to the Town Square to undertake the final Mystic Orb challenge.

With three wisps charging the Mystic Orb, place the orb in the final holder close to the gate by the hillside. For this challenge, you will need to get electric elemental kills. You can complete this challenge by using Shock Charges, Deadwire, Electric Incantations, or Durendal’s special ability. With the Mystic Orb fully charged, return to the Undercroft Stairway and place the Mystic Orb into the wall revealing the Secret Study.

On the table, you will find the Ancient Mystic Recording containing a message from The Owl. His message states,

“Greetings, my bastard son. I knew you would be the one to find me. You were always my favorite. Was your arrival here heralded by your brothers’ corpses? Well done! A fitting end for the wretches such as they! You must pass a final test if you wish to claim the Obscurus Altilium. Only then will you be worthy of my respect. Will you do it? Will you best the beast for your father’s honor? I knew you would accept the challenge. That is why you are my favorite. To be deemed worthy of my house, you must first defeat the Amulet’s Guardian.”

Preparing to Fight the Guardian

Pick the Guardian Key up off of the table and prepare for the final fight. For this final fight, we recommend having a weapon that can blow off armor pieces and a weapon that can deal a lot of damage quickly. Once you and your team think you are prepared, head to the Town Square and place the Guardian Key at the base of the statue. This will cause the Golem to slam down his hammer and teleport you to the Cavern.

Once in the Cavern, the final boss fight against The Guardian will begin. The Guardian will be immune for the first few seconds. Once he becomes targetable, you will need to destroy The Guardian’s armor plates and expose his weak spots. With his plates removed, The Guardian’s weak spots will glow red and yellow. Shoot those spots to deal additional damage to the behemoth. After taking his health bar down to about 2/3, The Guardian will become immune once again and you will need to survive against a wave of zombies.

After a minute has passed, the second wave of the boss fight will start. During this phase, the arena will shrink and The Guardian will shoot fireballs from his chest causing pathways to be blocked. He will also chase you down and step on you so watch out for his feet. Make sure to have a self-revive or you could easily fail this boss fight. Once you have damaged him to the point he only has 1/3 of a bar left, he will return to the center and become immune.

Once the guardian is immune again, a second wave of Zombies will spawn and you must hold out. After a minute, The Guardian will become targetable once again. In this final phase, he will make the arena even smaller. With a tighter space to maneuver, you will need to be constantly on your toes. The Guardian will rush you by charging at you or doing a jumping strike towards you. During any of the stages, you can use the incantations to do damage to the boss or the zombies.

With the Guardian slain, the Amulet will drop and Krafft will send a distress message saying come quickly, they are breaking down my cell.

The “Twist” Ending

At that point, you will be teleported back to the castle and a cutscene will play.

Sadly, the group arrives as Zombies have bitten into Krafft and caused lethal damage. As Krafft is bleeding out, Weaver asks about the Amulet.

Krafft: Take it to the excavation site… but beware the Sentinal Artifact… It could… consume you.

Weaver: Richtofen?  Where is he? We know he Contacted you.

Krafft: Please, please… don’t kill him. He, he is… my son.

After the cutscene finishes, one of two things will happen. If playing on Directed Mode, the game will end. If playing on Standard, players will be asked if they want to continue or extract. If you and your team choose to continue, you will be rewarded with Legendary Weapons, Aetherium Crystals, a Ray Gun, Weapon Tools, and more.
