Black Desert Online has been quite successful for developer Pearl Abyss and publisher Duam Games.

The game has sold 400,000 units in its first month. If we just go by the game’s lowest tiered option, the Traveler’s Pack (sets you back $29.99), this means the game has already raked in over 12$ million in the west alone, in North America and Europe.

“Considering the upward trend, I expect that the game will achieve over one million sales this year,” said Daum Games Europe CEO Min Kim. “What’s impressive is these figures far exceed those in the domestic market.”

Those sales figures don’t include the game’s in-house cash shop, which has a reportedly “much higher pay ratio” than the average seen in other MMORPGs, free to play or not (Editor’s Note: Black Desert Online was free to play in its original Korean release).

Daum Games have attributed the success of their launch to the fact that players must buy the MMORPG first, and receive all in-game content and post-launch updates entirely for free.

While the western launch for Black Desert Online officially kicked off this past March, the game currently boasts a concurrent userbase of roughly 100,000, a solid number for something that isn’t Warcraft or MOBA-related.
