Hajime Tabata has been doing a marketing blitz for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, and along the way he’s also answered questions about Final Fantasy XV. We’ve collected all of the important information he provided in this article. New screenshots have also been released for both games, and you can see those below. Thanks to LevelUp, Reddit, Famitsu.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD
All the content that was tied to online functionality in the PSP version of Type-0 will be available with this coming remaster, Tabata has said. In addition, he has stated that the Crimson missions contain new scenes and that the game includes a new costume not available in the original.
Other enhancements to the game include increased character speed and improved character controls.
“There aren’t any tedious trophies/achievements in the game. We used FF13 as an example for our trophy/achievement list.”
When questioned about AI improvements in Type-0 HD, Tabata replied that the AI is the same as it was in the original. Due to technical restrictions in the original PSP version, the AI was made to “focus on healing the player when their HP got really low and ensured that the AI-controlled characters wouldn’t die easily or ‘steal’ too many kills from the player. We made it this way because of the reserves function since only the characters in the active battle party earn experience.”
Asked which characters from Class Zero he would choose, Tabata replied, “Ace, Rem, and King are [the characters I would suggest] for beginners. For more advanced players, I’d use Trey, Jack, and Eight (or Seven).”
Type-0 HD is around 40 hours long but because there’s extra content on a second playthrough, players could spend 100 hours on the game.
“I would love to work on [a sequel] if Type-0 HD does well.”
Final Fantasy XV
According to Tabata, Square Enix are aiming for 1080p and 30FPS with Final Fantasy XV, but “it’s difficult to realize that with the graphics and features we have in the game.”
Tabata has stated that he would like for Final Fantasy XV to release on the same day worldwide, but didn’t actually confirm that would be the case.
Noctis’ “Phantom Sword” will be available in the Episode Duscae demo, which demo will be available for a limited time with the digital purchase of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, and indefinitely with purchases of physical copies.
