BioWare Officially Confirms Next Dragon Age Game, Now Actively in Development

While the latest Dragon Age game, Inquisition, generally received mixed responses from fans – Electronic Arts and developer BioWare have officially confirmed they’re working on another game in the series.

The news comes via Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah, who said that while most of BioWare is working on their new IP, Anthem, considering he is executive producer on “both Dragon Age and Anthem,” there are “people hard at work on both franchises and I look forward to sharing more in the future.”

BioWare general manager Casey Hudson followed up with a tweet that further confirmed work on the next Dragon Age game:

“Reading lots of feedback regarding Dragon Age, and I think you’ll be relieved to see what the team is working on. Story & character focused,” Hudson said. “Too early to talk details, but when we talk about “live” it just means designing a game for continued storytelling after the main story.”

Oh boy, I can’t wait to find out about the sense of pride and accomplishment this game’s inevitable loot boxes will bring me for the low low cost of all of my money while continuing to butcher the legacy of one of my favorite RPGs of all time.

I have very little confidence in this.Maybe they learned something from their past failures.Maybe they understand that open world may not be the best course of action.Maybe they understand that the command table is a horrendous idea.Maybe they understand that elves are more human in funny hats and a human teenager that has pointy ears but hates all elves is a horrible character and it should never be inflicted on the world ever again. But,then again, they don’t have the best track record lately and they are owned by EA.

There hasn’t been a good Dragon Age since the first one so…

Hey maybe they’ll do good. Fourth time’s the charm? Yeah right.

Origins and awakening were amazing starts to this franchise but I can look past 2 since it was supposed to be a tiny side story while they worked on the real sequel until EA told them to call it two. Inquisiton just made a giant retcon mess out of everything that was established beforehand like the being that the elves worshipped? now a human. There is no possible way that making a new game can salvage what they already tossed in the gutter

I’ll say one thing about Inquisition: you could play it entirely offline. I did.

But Western mainstream industry today is all about online and microtransactions.

Louis le Vau’s predictions continue to come true. The franchise will be dead after this, guaranteed.

I like the lore of the Dragon Age universe and the general overarching plot between games… But too bad the mechanics have always been crap, even the first one, and each game only has a couple of likable characters.

I would love a dragon age like origins, but I would be foolish to expect that.

It’s a shame too, because DA:O Was the kind of game that I always wanted. A simple Baldur’s Gate ripoff done in a 3D engine. Nothing fancy or special, just that.

And what do we have now? riding the bull.

Judging by how ugly the female characters are getting with each new Bioware game, they’ll probably look like orcs in this with bright pink hair talking about how tired their faces are.

Mass Effect 2 had the Cereberes system bullshit
Dragon Age 2 was an absolute insult in terms of scale and quality
Mass Effect 3 had the Preorder and Ending bullshit (arguably the worst ending of any media)
Dragon Age In was the only game Ive ever played where i feel asleep in the middle of combat
Mass Effect Andromedia had well…everything wrong with it

Bioware is dead to me and many other gamers. They can get fucked…never buying another product from them ever again
