We’ve learned (via Hollywood Reporter) some more stars are confirmed for the upcoming Detective Pikachu live-action movie.
The movie, which stars Ryan Reynolds, is getting two more talented actors – Bill Nighy and Chris Geere (You’re the Worst). Produced by Legendary, the movie also features Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies) and the legendary Ken Watanabe.
The plot is focused on Smith’s character, whose father is kidnapped – prompting the teenager to team up with Pikachu and a young journalist (Newton) in the hopes of finding him. Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) is directing, with filming set to begin this month in London.
The video game version of the spinoff, Detective Pikachu, is set to launch for the Nintendo 3DS on March 23rd – worldwide. You can read more about that game here in our previous report.
