Bethesda Ported Skyrim to Xbox One, Current-Generation Port Not Out of the Question

We’ve learned (via Game Informer) that Bethesda Softworks are sitting on an Xbox One port of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

In an interview with Bethesda Game Director and Executive Producer Todd Howard, the boss revealed that work on Fallout 4 actually came after the developer ported Skyrim to Microsoft’s latest home console.

“The first thing we did was port Skyrim to Xbox One,” Fallout 4 director Todd Howard said to Game Informer.

To be clear, this is a common thing with developers and large-scale games, as Nintendo did the same thing with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on the Wii U (as they ramp up development on the Wii U Zelda game).

When it comes to this new port of Skyrim and whether or not we’ll see it on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, Howard said “don’t get your hopes up yet.”

We’ll keep you guys posted. In the meantime – would you like to see a Skyrim release for current-generation consoles? Sound off in the comments below!
