Beta Signups for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III Now Available

Relic Entertainment and Sega have quietly opened up beta signups for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III.

The beta signup survey was shared initially via a newsletter sent out to fans subscribed to the game’s newsfeed, asking a myriad of questions like: your computer’s performance, your expertise with RTS and MOBA games, as well as your affinity to the Warhammer franchise.

To be clear, this is for a series of closed multiplayer playtests, which Relic are commissioning to fine tune balancing ahead of the game’s launch sometime later this year. Naturally, they’ll be taking in player feedback during these tests.

From the wording of the newsletter, it sounds like invites will be going out rather soon, so make sure to sign up if you’re interested.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III is launching sometime this year, for PC.

To beta testers: tell them to tone down the glowy shit.

Don’t want Diablo 3 style effects in your RTS eh?

Can’t wait for a repeat of Command and Conquer.

For those that don’t know, the beta testers found the game so horrible they shitcanned the game.

Don’t think that will happen with this one. The reason that Command & Conquer game failed is because EA was stupid enough to think you could do a F2P RTS game.

I’m exaggerating of course. They’ll push this PoS out the door and I’ll under perform our outright bomb. Then they’ll spew something about listening to the fans and go about removing the bs when they realize their Esports dreams will never happen.

The game will finally break even in about 3 years with all the DLC. Hopefully it convinces Sega execs to never again try to turn a beloved franchise into an Esports game. The saddest part of all this, the part that is most pathetic, is that if they’d just made an expanded Soul Storm, they probably could have had an Esports game on their hand.

Because of all the fireworks on the screen ,this doesn’t look like an enjoyable viewing experience to me.If they fix that then I would give it a chance as an E-sport.

I don’t feel very confident. Given how many people asked them about it but they havent addressed or shown a demo of it toned down, I’m not sure we will be able to do that here. But I hope you are right.

ok even in the unlikely circumstance they dont offer the option to tone it down, this is probably the easiest thing to mod

Yeah kinda feel bad for Relic being under Sega’s heel now. The BS started with CoH 2 with all the DLC nonsense.

Never played that serious, and it sounds like I should be grateful. It’s painful watching your favorite series go through things like this.
