Korean developer Naviworks Co. has announced a promising new military-themed, virtual reality-focused shooter called Battle X: Birth of the Alliance.
The game is set for a Windows PC release sometime later this year, for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive (all via Steam). Featured above, you can view the initial trailer for the game.
With a focus on realistic military training, the game will sport a more tactical feel, and it even has voice work by the legendary Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers).
Here’s a rundown on the game:
Battle X: Birth of the Alliance is a first-person shooter that delves into corporate mercenaries, company politics, and biohacking. Single player mode dives deep into corporate espionage where the story weaves through current political crises, immersive storytelling at its finest. While multiplayer mode allows you to team up with friends and play a variety of missions against other players (PVP) or Coop mode where your team must take on the horribly mutated biohacked scientists.
Battle X was born out of military training VR first developed by Naviworks to train some of the world most impressive armies. Their Virtual Reality training allows militaries and corporations to train their workers in a safe, all-encompassing environment–giving real-life experience through a simulated program. Based on realistic military training modules, Naviworks envisioned the possibility of gamifying their successful industrial complex program. To that end, Battle X came into being. With the help of Susan O’Connor, one the worlds most sought after game writers, Battle X uses unique game mechanics and storytelling to immerse the player in realistic military training!
Key Features:
- Real World Combat Training: Game mechanics are based on real-world military simulations developed for a variety of governmental agencies.
- Single Player/Multi Player: Grab a group of friends to train together or experience the story solo in a truly immersive world.
- Real World Weapons: Experience the full impact of handling real-world weapons with the safety OFF!
- Multi-Platform Release: HTC Vive, Oculus and in 2019 PSVR
