The upcoming anime adaptation of Bastard!!: Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy will be 24 episodes aired over several cour.
The anime adaptation of the 1987 series was announced earlier this year by Netflix. The original manga is the claim to fame for creator Kazushi Hagiwara who created the series back in 1987. His other credits are solely character design credits for other works.

While technically the series is ongoing, it has been on hiatus ever since 2010 with the release of the 27th volume.
