Now that Baldur’s Gate III is finally available on Xbox consoles, many are wondering if it will inevitably hit the platform’s popular Game Pass platform.
The developer behind the hit tactical RPG, Larian Studios, has gone on the record to definitely strike down any possibility of Baldur’s Gate III on Game Pass.
“Oh, we always said from the get-go, it wasn’t going to be on Game Pass, it’s not going to be on Game Pass,” Larian founder Swen Vincke said to IGN.
When asked to elaborate, Vincke said putting the RPG on Game Pass is a “sensitive question” because they’re in the business of “making a game that has a beginning, middle, and an end.”
“We made a big game, so I think there’s a fair price to be paid for that, and I think that that is okay,” Vincke said. “We don’t charge you any micro-transactions on top of it, so you get what you pay for. Upfront it’s a big meaty game. So I think that should be able to exist as it is. This is what allows us to continue making other games.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 has been available on Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Check out our review for the game here!
