Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 is getting re-released

Not long after its predecessor got a modern re-release, we’ve learned Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 is getting re-released on PC and consoles.

The news that Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 is getting re-released was confirmed by developer Black Isle Studios, who also confirmed the game is coming to “PC and consoles.”

While the original Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance was re-released back in May 2021 across Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4, its PC release (via Steam and GOG) came a bit later in December 2021.

Black Isle noted this won’t happen with Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2. “Not this time! A unified release is our plan!,” the developer said. It’s worth noting this will be the first time Dark Alliance II gets released on PC in 18 years since its release on consoles.

The original Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance was developed by Snowblind Studios – its sequel Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 was developed by Black Isle Studios and released back in 2004 for Xbox and PS2. Both games used the Snowblind Engine, and while there was a third game planned, it was cancelled as Interplay went bankrupt and the original Black Isle Studios was closed.

It’s worth noting these games are couch co-op action RPG classics and have no relation to Wizards of the Coast and Tuque Games’ co-op game Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, which launched in 2021 to mixed responses.

Further details weren’t confirmed – we’ll keep you guys posted.
