Poker-roguelike deckbuilder Balatro sells over 1 million copies

Publisher Playstack and solo indie developer LocalThunk announced Balatro has sold over 1 million copies since its worldwide debut.

Their poker roguelike deckbuilder sold over one million copies within a month since its debut on February 20th across Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and PS5.

“I’m so grateful to all the players and people that have made this happen,” LocalThunk said. “I still can’t grasp the response to this game, and I am overjoyed that so many people have been able to have fun with my silly creation. I’m so fortunate that I can continue working on my passion as a career. Thank you!”

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support and enthusiasm from players worldwide,” Playstack CEO Harvey Elliott said. “The game’s success is a testament to the quality and creativity that the indie sector can deliver, proving that even in uncertain times, innovative games can thrive. We extend our deepest thanks to every player who has joined us on this adventure.”

LocalThunk will keep working on Balatro releasing quality of life updates and more – as well as release a smartphone port for the game.
