Ayaneo has launched two new versions of its flagship consoles today, the Pocket DMG and Pocket Micro.

The handheld consoles can play Android games, but take visual cues from the Game Boy and the Game Boy Micro, respectively.

The Pocket DMG is powered by the Snapdragon G3x Generation 2 as its gaming platform, and also has a left joystick and touchpad. Its 6000amh battery will ensure a long-lasting gaming experience, and includes a 3.92” OLED display. The Pocket also has the AyaHome and AyaSpace for its digital management.

The prices for the Pocket DMG are as follows:

  • AYANEO Pocket DMG 8GB+126GB – US$339 (early bird), US$419 (IndieGoGo retail), US$449 (retail)
  • AYANEO Pocket DMG 12GB+256GB – US$419 (early bird), US$499 (IndieGoGo retail), US$529 (retail)
  • AYANEO Pocket DMG 16GB+512GB – US$499 (early bird), US$579 (IndieGoGo retail), US$609 (retail)
  • AYANEO Pocket DMG 16GB+1TB Retro Color Limited Edition – US$589 (early bird), US$669 (IndieGoGo retail), US$699 (retail)

The Pocket Micro is basically a modernized take on the Game Boy Micro. The console has a 3.5-inch screen and has MediaTek Helio G99 chipset as its processor. Its aluminum-style frame makes the Pocket Micro seem looking high-end, and like the Pocket DMG, has the AyaHome and AyaSpace.

The consoles were developed by crowdfunding, with about US$68,000 raised for the Pocket Micro and about US$105,000 for the Pocket DMG. While there is skepticism in handling crowdfunded campaigns for the consoles, their track record for proving good indie hand consoles is secure.
