Professional seiyuu and singer Aya Hirano announced she will continue to play the iconic characters she’s voiced for Kyoto Animation, after the tragic arson attack on the studio.
Hirano promised she’ll continue voicing Haruhi Suzumiya (from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) and Konata Izumi (Lucky Star), both characters from anime shows produced by Kyoto Animation.
Hirano attended the farewell ceremony for the victims of the arson attack, alongside 500 others with direct ties to Kyoto Animation, and the victims. The ceremony was held on November 3rd and 4th.
The voice actress also gave words of condolences and encouragement to the people with ties to the victims and the victims as well. The Kyoto Animation studios fire claimed 36 lives this summer.
She stated that she couldn’t bring herself to visit the fire site right after it happened and had to wait until August before going to lay down flowers. She also said the drawings that fans created of the characters she voiced conveyed her feelings for her just the same.
