Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan Arrives on Steam

Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan, a Kickstarter-funded action RPG based on African mythology, can now be bought from Steam. The game was developed by a studio called Kiro’o Games and is probably the first video game to come from the country of Cameroon.

Aurion as we know it was in development since 2011 but its history is much longer, going back to the early RPG Maker scene in 2003. Since then, the game evolved from a turn-based jRPG to a sidescrolling action-oriented title which seems to take as much influence from Tales series as it does from 2D beat-em-ups. Its graphics improved significantly since there, with the released version having some beautiful hand-drawn backgrounds and sprites.

Aurion is available in original French as well as in English, although apparently the English translation is still work in progress so non-French speaking readers might want to wait a little while until the localization is finalized.

About

I play games (I have a preference for old, weird and difficult ones but that's not the rule) and write articles about them that are sometimes a bit too long. Sometimes I also do things other than gaming, I swear.
