Fear not Atlus fans! Despite the news of Sega wholly purchasing and acquiring Index Corporation and all of its subsidiaries, word of the fate of Atlus within Sega has yet to come to light.

That is until now, thanks to a new press release from Sega fully detailing their plans for Index Corporation and Atlus. It seems that Sega has bold plans for both companies and is going to execute them very soon, in April of this year in fact.

Starting April 1st, Sega will divide Atlus and Index Corporation into two entirely separate subsidiaries within the company. Also, Index Digital Media, Inc. – the international subsidiary of Index Corporation, will be rebranded to Atlus U.S.A., Inc.

Apparently the goal of this separation of the previously parent company and subsidiary is to maximize the creative juices within Sega Sammy, as well as each individual industry within the global company. After the divide has taken place, Sega is expecting future growth and faster development from both companies.

To explain things a bit further in case you were lost in all the corporate jargon, Index Corporation will be essentially rebranded into Atlus, while the newly organized Index Corporation will essentially be a totally new entity.

The new Atlus will continue developing games, while the new Index Corporation will be in internet advertisements, systems development, content and solutions, and so on. The companies are currently employing totals of 121 and 166 employees, respectively.

Lastly, Yukio Sugino, the current managing director at Sega and company director at Index, will enter a new position as the representative for the reformed Atlus. Yasuhiko Hamada, the representative director and executive vice president of Index, will be the representative for the reformed Index Corporation.

So rest easy Atlus fans, Sega seems to have put their faith in the company not only in their purchase of it, but their restructuring of both companies to maximize what they’re good at. Now if only we could learn more about Persona 5..
