Atelier Ryza Sells 350,000 Worldwide, May soon Become Best Selling Atelier Game

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout

Gust have begun celebrating Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout selling 350,000 copies worldwide- putting it on track to become the best selling Atelier game.

The announcement came via the official Gust Twitter account, and the Twitter account of Mel Kishida– character designer for numerous Atelier games (including Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland, Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland, Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland, and Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland).

The Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki claims that Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book had sold 370,000 copies. He predicts that Atelier Ryza will exceed that figure, if it continues as it has.

Atelier Ryza sold 150,000 during its first week of sales in Japan (September 26th, 2019), so it may not be entirely impossible. The game’s Producer Junzo Hosoi claimed that he was surprised so many found the main character sexy. Could this be one of the reasons for the game’s success?

Gust has no intention of slowing down however. In November 2019, Gust announced they were working on four new projects– including a new Atelier game.

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout is out now on Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. In case you missed it, you can find our review here (we highly recommend it!)
