Developer Gust have announced that Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout has sold 500,000 copies worldwide, further cementing it as the best selling Atelier game to date.
We previously reported in February that the game sold 350,000 copies worldwide– putting it on track to become the best selling Atelier game. Gust had no intention of slowing down however. In November 2019, Gust announced they were working on four new projects– including a new Atelier game.
This was later revealed to be Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy. Ryza also became the first Atelier protagonist to take on such a role in two successive titles.
The character has become so popular, a $26,000 USD life-size 5’7″ figure of the character was announced. Pre-orders continue until August 30th in Japan- provided at least 10 people order it. A 1/7th scale is being produced in the future. The game’s producer Junzo Hosoi claimed earlier that he was surprised so many found the main character sexy.
The Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki claimed that Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book had sold 370,000 copies. This was beaten back in April with the game selling over 420,000 copies worldwide.

Story
The Main Character Is Ryza, An Ordinary Girl.
Tired of boring village life, she escapes the village to gather with her good friends in a secret location to talk of their dreams and plan thrilling adventures.
One day, the determined Ryza and company decide to head for the forbidden “island across the shore” as their first exploration trip.
Together with the alchemist and other friends they meet there, they have a “summer adventure” that they will never forget.
