Koei Tecmo have announced free costume DLC for both Atelier Ryza games has launched, to celebrate the cumulative over 1 million sales.
The first game’s success seem come as a surprise to Gust, but led to the first Atelier protagonist to remain as such in a direct sequel. Producer Junzo Hosoi claimed that he was surprised so many found the main character sexy, but nonetheless a $26,000 USD life-size figure of Ryza Stout was produced for the most enthusiastic of enthusiasts.
The two games achieved cumulative sales of over 1 million copies as of March 29th; with Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy selling 360,000 copies as of April 2021. The latter may eventually become the best selling game in the series; if it has not already.
In late March 2021, Koei Tecmo announced special free DLC costumes to celebrate the 1 million milestone for both games; White Lily of Summer for Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, and High Summer Formal for Atelier Ryza 2. Koei Tecmo have announced both of these DLC costumes have launched, and you can find their steam pages in the aforementioned links.
The first game see young Atelier Reisalin “Ryza” Stout; who takes up alchemy after being saved from a monster. While her mother disapproves, she runs her Atelier in secret; helping out people on her small island, and the mainland. Soon Ryza and her friends uncover the terrible secrets deep beneath the ruins under their feet.
The sequel takes place three years later, where Ryza is now an alchemist and teacher on her island. Called upon by her childhood friends in the capital to help investigate a mysterious stone, Ryza soon comes across a small fairy she names Fi. Ryza and her friends once again dig into the past as they try to keep the little fairy alive.
