Koei Tecmo and Gust have revealed (via Famitsu and Dengeki) Atelier Firis: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Journey for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.
The game is set for a release in Japan sometime this fall, and it features character designs by Yugen and Noco.
The game’s logo and protagonist, Firis, were revealed, which you can view above as well as below:
The game’s protagonist, Firis Mistrut, is designed by Yugen and voiced by Kaede Hondo. She’s a young girl that lives in an underground mining town shut off from the world by a gate. Her special ability is finding buried ores, and she utilizes this to mine various ores.
Firis’ older sister, Learne Mistrut, is designed by Noco and voiced by Azusa Sato (Editor’s Note: no images of her yet). She’s the travel partner of Firis, and while being one of the few to venture outside of town, is an excellent hunter to boot.
The theme of Atelier Firis’ story is travel. Firis doesn’t have her own alchemy studio, but she performs alchemy while traveling with her sister. A focus is put on bigger scaled fields when compared to previous games in the series, including things like wintry regions, a mountain region, and more.
As you explore, Firis’ outfit will change depending on her location. The preview mentions that time is factored into the game, so perhaps a day / night cycle is being implemented? You’ll be given more choices on how to progress, like fixing a bridge versus finding a way around, leading you to a mysterious cave.
