Atari and Fig Enter Partnership for Two New Games – One a Reboot for “Beloved” Atari IP

Atari has announced a new partnership with crowdfunding platform Fig.

The new partnership will include two new games, the first of which is a reboot for one of Atari’s “most beloved” intellectual properties. The other is an entirely new IP from Atari.

Recently, Atari revealed a new Tempest game they’re developing with original creator Jeff Minter, as well as their curious new “Ataribox” console. Could these new games also be coming to their new hardware console? We still don’t really know anything regarding their console – save that it has a fake wood panel just like their classic gaming consoles.

I hope they reboot Pac Man 2 the New Adventures, as terrible as that game was it’s still fun to watch for how bad it is.

So this video is a little old, but I still think it holds some very important information about Fig, and why you might want to avoid it, and its projects.

They’re a publicly traded company with enough capital to produce hardware why do they need to use crowdfunding?

I’m honestly shocked it hasn’t inspired some spiritual successor, it’s a really bizzare cult classic where the meta goal is making Pac-Man’s life a living hell akin to Duck Amuck.
