Microids and developer Mr Nutz Studio have announced cartoon 2D beat ’em up Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All!

For those unfamiliar, the Asterix comic series began in 1959, created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. 50 BC Gaul is almost entirely occupied by the Roman empire; except one small village. Thanks to the magic potion by the druid Getafix; Asterix, Obelix, and their friends are granted super-human strength.

As stated in the press release, the new game will task players with rampaging through Romans, boars, pirates, and Normans alone or in co-op; with a heavy focus on respecting the source material. This is via hand drawn animation and backgrounds closely following the original comic.

As expected for the Euro-centric series, the game will support English, French, and German audio and text (along with Spanish text).

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! launches Fall 2021 for Windows PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and backwards compatible on PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
