Niche Gamer Plays is an ongoing video preview series where our staff take an in-depth and yet concise look at classic, current, and upcoming games across all current gaming platforms.
Today we got our first chance at playing Nintendo’s upcoming arena-brawling game for the Nintendo Switch, Arms.
I streamed my thoughts while playing the game with proper motion controls via the game’s first Global Test Punch. While playing I give tips and hints that I picked up along the way. If you missed your chance at playing the first Public Test Punch, this might just be the video for you.
Make sure to check our full schedule for the coming Arms Test Punch events – which you can read about here.

May 27, 2017 at 9:31 amLooks like a fun Punch Out spiritual successor, but it seems too cluttered with more than two people playing.

May 27, 2017 at 11:48 amI played it for the full hour. Loved it. I think there’s lots of potential in the game, but fuck the ninja character – he needs to be nerfed IMO.

May 27, 2017 at 3:02 pmBetween Arms and Overwatch, the potentiality for waifus have increased twofold.

May 27, 2017 at 4:42 pmOverwatch?
Ha ha.
Arms clearly has a much more varied, unique, and interesting cast.

Scruffy, the Janitor
May 27, 2017 at 5:59 pmButch lesbian, fat Eskimo, gay tomboy, autistic Indian, Ariyan, and an Egyptian and her mom.
That’s pretty varied.

May 27, 2017 at 6:13 pmCompared to Arms’ cast? Ha ha.

May 27, 2017 at 7:21 pmI wonder if Nintendo is quite prepared for the kind of constant buffing/nerfing required to balance a competitive character based multiplayer game. Issuing patches once a month is not going to work.

May 27, 2017 at 7:30 pmI haven’t seen you around here for a long time.

May 27, 2017 at 9:13 pmAs opposed to a gal with the most delicious booty, a cheerleader and a Chinese?
I’m not knocking ARMS down, mind, I just want to know where’s the mentality coming from.

May 27, 2017 at 9:26 pmPlayed in all of the testpunch sessions so far. Motion controls are terrible. It’s fun with traditional controls, but there isn’t enough here to justify the asking price, imo.
Oh, and Ninjara is OP as fuck.
Loli de 42 Empregos
May 27, 2017 at 10:19 pmit worked for Smash bros. I think they’ll be fine.

May 27, 2017 at 10:20 pmI know NIntendo don’t really do this type of thing but they REALLY need to make a One Piece Crossover DLC having Afro Luffy as a playable character

May 27, 2017 at 11:03 pmWell, you see, Arms is made by Nintendo, and this is Travis we’re talking about.
Scruffy, the Janitor

May 28, 2017 at 1:28 amI love ARMs and all but Overwatch has more characters at the moment.
Zanard Bell
May 28, 2017 at 1:41 amYeah, he’s kind of a Nintenyearold cuck, but it’s fun making him trip on his own.
Scruffy, the Janitor
May 28, 2017 at 11:41 amSo like, hes Techraptor’s Chrischan?
totenglocke
May 28, 2017 at 10:31 pmBingo. The motion controls are awful for movement and that ninja bastard being able to teleport away from every attack is beyond bullshit.
SinkingSage
June 1, 2017 at 2:28 pmIt’s quite obvious that he’s a nintendofag.
It’s indisputable that Overwatch has more and better characters.
