Arma 3 used as fake Yemen war footage in Houthi propaganda

Arma 3

The video game Arma 3 has some pretty good graphics. So good in fact that at least one pro-Houthi X (formerly Twitter) account is using footage of the game to convince users that an American warship has been destroyed.

The tweet shows a missile cruising towards what’s claimed to be an American warship. The missile travels slowly before colliding with the vessel, triggering a massive explosion.

Of course Twitter users familiar with the game were quick to point out the fake footage (and X Community Notes chimed in).

It seems that video games have become surprisingly relevant when it comes to military intelligence. On one hand we’ve got fake war footage courtesy of Arma 3, on the other hand users can’t help but leak documents on the War Thunder forums.

Arma 3 is available now on Windows PC (via Steam).
