Areal Developer West Games Closing Up Shop?

It’s been quite a while since we last heard about West games and the saga involving their Putin-backed, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. inspired FPS/RPG “Areal”. Last we heard from them, they were kicked off of Kickstarter’s website and were forced to solicit money directly from the web. After that, things quieted down and the community moved on; obviously content that this supposed “scam” of a game project had been properly squelched.

Get ready for round 2, because news coming out of the Nevada Secretary of State’s website points to Las Vegas-based West Games losing their business license.

While this certainly makes it look like the project is over and West Games is now packing up their belongings into boxes, their website is still up and currently shows 12,900 of its 50,000 goal have been met. Which, well, is basically what it’s been stuck at since the removal of their Kickstarter.

Considering their Twitter hasn’t been updated since June (when they were actually on Kickstarter) and they have no forum or working blog on their project site, it’s hard to get any confirmation from West Games themselves.

Though with their business license expiring, it’s a bit of a moot point. Areal, along with its developer, is presumably no more.
