DMM has shared the creditless opening theme from Aquarion: Myth of Emotions, the long-awaited follow up to Shoji Kawamori’s classic sci-fi anime series.
The new opening theme for Aquarion: Myth of Emotions is actually a remix of the original theme from the 2005 series Genesis of Aquarion, the legendary titular theme of the same name by bless4 and singer Akino.
Simply titled “Aquarion: Myth of Emotions Ver.,” the newly remixed opening theme features both Akino and Yoshiki Fukuyama (Macross 7, JAM Project) singing different sections of the classic yet rearranged theme.
Here’s a comparison between the new theme and the 2005 original:
It’s worth noting the new series ending theme is “Kokuhaku” (Confession), and will also be performed by Akino, though it seems we won’t see it until the series premieres.
Aquarion: Myth of Emotions is the fourth anime series in the franchise originally directed by Macross creator Shoji Kawamori, and was produced by animation studio Satelight. It takes place after the events of the original three series.
Key staff on the new series include Kenji Itoso directing (Coluboccoro, Santa Company) Sadayuki Murai as a screenwriter (Millennium Actress, Perfect Blue), Masashi Kudo on character designs (Bleach, Terminator Zero), and both Takashi Ohmama (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury) and Shu Kanematsu (My Next Life as a Villainess) composing the music.
Aquarion: Myth of Emotions is set to premiere this week on January 10th via Tokyo MX and other channels nationally in Japan and simulcasting/streaming on January 9th via our friends at Crunchyroll.
