Aquaplus wants to port old games like Dungeon Travelers, Routes, and Tears to Tiara

Not long after Yuke’s acquired Aquaplus, the companies are teasing up what’s coming next – and Aquaplus wants to port their older games to modern platforms.

The new tease for Aquaplus porting their older games comes from a new interview with the bosses of both Yuke’s and Aquaplus and Denfamicogamer.

While nothing is concretely in the works, the team is looking to port games like the Dungeon Travelers series, Routes, and even the PS3 version of Tears to Tiara, all of which is now possible with the support of Yuke’s.

“Regarding ports of past titles, given Yuke’s technical capabilities, I don’t think the release timing would be too far off once a decision is made,” Aquaplus COO Naoya Shimokawa teased.

He added, “Nothing specific has been decided yet, but we’re considering releasing the Dungeon Travelers series and Routes on some new platforms. Also, while the PS3 version of Tears to Tiara was considered a difficult title for Aquaplus to port, we’ve actually found a ray of hope because someone at Yuke’s was involved in its development back then.”

Yuke’s founder and CEO Yukinori Taniguchi said, “Yuke’s has experience releasing games on a wide variety of platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2. Going forward, we’d like to work on porting past titles to current-generation consoles as well.”

The Aquaplus boss teased that “It’s no use just talking about my own wishes, so I’d like to ask game fans themselves: What titles would you like to see ported?”

Lastly, Shimokawa teased that he’d like to create a “completely new game that’s unlike anything before, utilizing each other’s expertise, rather than just being an extension of existing series.”

The Aquaplus COO said something more realistic for them to tackle would be a simulation RPG or a new fighting game like AQUAPAZZA, which they most recently ported to Windows PC back in 2025.
